Spiritual Communion

We are invited by Pope Francis to make an act of spiritual communion each day, expressing our wish and desire to receive Jesus into our hearts. This is very pleasing to the Lord and the saints assure us that it brings great grace. There was even an official Church teaching on this practice given at the Council of Trent. Here is a prayer to use:

My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I long for You in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I wish my Lord to receive you, with the purity, humility and devotion with which your Most Holy Mother received you, with the spirit and fervour of the saints. Amen.
